Project Bruce Highway, Mackay region, widening and safety improvements

Project Mt Carlton Mine, tailings storage facility stage 7 raise

Project Crushing and earthworks

Project Mt Carlton Mine, main site water dam (stage 2) raise

The Stage 2 works involved a 25m lift and raise the embankment crest level to RL 141.5m. Project Port of Townsville truck staging area

Project Hervey Range Developmental Road slope repair works

Project Southern Suburbs Rising Main - stage 1 Annandale section
Client Townsville City Council Value $11.5 million AUD Date April 2019 - November 2019 Details RMS in Joint Venture with GNM Drainage constructed the 4.2km southern suburbs sewer rising main, delivering the Recycled Water Reuse Scheme infrastructure. This consisted of two pipes; one is 710mm in diameter and the other is a 280mm diameter pipe. The project included construction of valve and pipe installation including large piled restraint. The project extends throughout the suburb of Annandale, negotiating the many roads, parklands and underground services along the way. Works also included the reconstruction of Cypress Drive. |
Project Haughton solar farm access road and asphalt strip
Client Powerlink Queensland C/- UGL Value $500k AUD Date October 2019 Details The project consisted of the construction of a 5.0m wide internal access road constructed within an operational high voltage energy substation, presenting some difficult but rewarding challenges throughout the project execution. Additionally, a 1.40m wide asphalt strip was constructed around the substation perimeter and the works consisted of pavements, kerbing and other minor items under Powerlink specifications. |
Project Classroom construction
Client ISAT Training Company Value $400K USD Date 2018 Details The classroom is at the Nicolau Lobato Training Centre near Metinaro, about 30 minutes drive East of Dili. The construction of the building by RMS served two purposes; firstly it allowed students to learn construction methods that meet Australian standards and secondly it provided the military engineers training facility. |
Project Angus Smith Drive roadway and associated works
Client Kelly Developments Value $550K AUD Date November 2018 - January 2019 Details The project consisted of the construction of a slip lane on Angus Smith Drive, Douglas as well as the construction of an extended bus / turning lane, new crossover and new footpath. The project was completed under DTMR Specification and Townsville City Council landscaping Specifications. Works were undertaken under a heavy live traffic and PUP environment with commercial driveway accesses remaining open throughout the works at all times. |
Project Bruce Highway safe roadsides

Project Wide centre line treatment and intersection upgrades

Project Safety improvements on Bruce Highway
Client Department of Transport and Main Roads Value $4.4 million AUD Date December 2017 - April 2018 Details Situated between Townsville and Ingham, RMS crews were engaged to undertake safety improvements along the stretch of the Bruce Highway at 22 separate sites. The improvements varied from sign replacements, widenings, large culvert works and wide centre line marking, audio tactile line marking and other works. |
Project Flinders Highway culvert upgrade
Client Department of Transport and Main Roads Value $8.8 million AUD Date September 2017 - October 2018 Details A joint venture with NQ Civil Contractors to form the RMSNQCCJV to deliver the culvert replacement project. The site is located on the Flinders Highway near Hughenden and was spread across five separate sites. |
Project Ross River solar farm
Client Esco Pacific C/- Downer Value $6.3 million AUD Date September 2017 - April 2018 Details Early civil works, construction of carparks, entrance road, building pads, and roads within the site. Working alongside Downer on-site was a key element of the project. Dust, water and noise was monitored to ensure surrounding residents are not affected by the works. |
Project Bruce Highway safety improvements

Project Girringun Biodiversity Nursery access road widening
Client Girringun Aboriginal Corporation Value $100K AUD Date March 2017 Details Engaged by Girringun Aboriginal Corporation, RMS were required to undertake widening of the Bruce Highway to gain safe entry to the access road for the Biodiversity Nursery. Works involved traffic control, earthworks excavation and backfill, insitu stabilisation, removal and re-erection of road furniture. |
Project Didgeridoo Lagoon to West Barratta Creek highway upgrade
Client Department of Transport and Main Roads Value $4 million AUD Date October 2016 - May 2017 Details Safety improvements on the Bruce Highway through widening and strengthening of a 2.1km section, and installing a 1m wide centre line treatment on the Bruce Highway between Ayr and Townsville. The upgrade works was to improve the safety and efficiency for road users. |
Project Morey Street water main replacement
Client Townsville City Council Value $1.7 million AUD Date September 2016 - February 2017 Details The project was to undertake the construction of a new DN300 replacement water main. The replacement main connects to an existing DN300 water main at the Dean Street intersection and extends along the northern side of Morey Street, connecting to the existing DN375 water main along Boundary Street. The main crosses a Queensland Rail corridor and QNI oil pipeline along Perkins Street. Connections to existing water supply mains and associated infrastructure was required under the contract. |
Project Sun Metals Zinc Refinery road works
Client Sun Metals Value $300K AUD Date September 2016 Details Under strict on site occupational health and safety guidelines, we were required to clear the area of new works and undertake earthworks as per Australian Standard 3798. Topsoil was to be stripped to a minimum depth of 50mm and filling to be carried out in uniform horizontal layers of no more than 200mm of loose material and be compacted to a 98% standard compaction. |
Project Townsville CBD utilities water main replacement - package C
Client Townsville City Council Value $600K AUD Date July 2016 - November 2016 Details The water supply network in parts of the Townsville CBD was over 60 years old and needed to be upgraded. As part of the $43 million project, RMS were engaged to construct, cut in, test, disinfect and commission a DN375 DICL pipework with associated valves, fittings and connections and reinstate Flinders Street West. |
Project Tully Training Area "Mick's Track" - Stage 3
Client Department of Defence Value $500K AUD Date June 2016 - September 2016 Details The Tully Training Area houses the Jungle Training Wing which is operated by the Department of Defence. The project involved the remediation of existing roadworks and upgrading the structural capacity of an existing reinforced concrete box culvert with the areas operational confines. Work included the surface preparation and installation of a crushed rock sub-base drainage base-course manufactured from locally sourced decomposed granite and plastic clay. |
Project Illich Park Precinct revitalisation project
Client Townsville City Council Value $2.2 million AUD Date April 2016 - November 2016 Details Works were undertaken to upgrade the park’s standards of service to deliver improved senior and junior sporting fields, reduced annual maintenance requirements and expenditure, improved park furnishings and aesthetics. The project also included delivering improved passive security surveillance utilising Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and efficient irrigation of parkland and reducing demand upon town water supply and pressure. |
Project Port Vila, Vanuatu urban development project
Client Republic of Vanuatu Value $14 million USD Date March 2016 - October 2018 Details Improvement of approximately 13km of roads and 7km of drains around Port Vila, consisting of mainly the arterial roads of Kumul Highway and the Lini Highway, plus Freswota Road, Winston Churchill Avenue and roads within the Central Business District. The main arterial roads were completely upgraded with kerbs, footpaths and associated drainage. The Freswota Road, Winston Churchill and Central Business District were also resealed. |
Project Salvation Army Recovery Services relocation

Project Thiaki Creek Bridge Upgrade

Existing utility assets (power and telecommunications) were identified and protected during construction activities. The project included piling, structural concrete to headstocks, retaining walls, relieving slabs, minor roadworks, bituminous sealing and erosion protection works. |
Project Design and construct floodways and road repairs

Construction of upstream and downstream concrete batter protection sealing, pavement, widening and reconstruction works involving cement modified base and cement stabilisation. Reform table drain and line with rock filled wire baskets. Installation of depth markers, removal of debris, replacement of guardrails and guideposts. |
Project Road and street rehabilitation project
Client Hinchinbrook Shire Council Value $4.4 million AUD Date May 2014 - May 2015 Details The project involved the rehabilitation of various road assets including excavation, cartage, placement, bituminous sealing works, culvert works and concrete works. The project also involved traffic management and control for a large number of urban and rural roads. The pavement type ranged from subgrade treatment, plant mixed stabilised and unbound materials utilised in the construction. |

Project Bruce Highway reconstruction Ingham to Innisfail
Client Department of Transport and Main Roads Value $5.3 million AUD Date December 2013 - August 2014 Details The project included pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction works within the Cassowary Coast Region north of Cardwell. The project included traffic management, earthworks, foamed bitumen and cement stabilisation pavements, bitumen sealing and drainage works. This projects included over 35,000m2 of roadworks. |
Project Queensland Country Credit Union carpark, Aitkenvale
Client Perry McDonald Constructions Value $800K AUD Date November 2013 - December 2014 Details Works included earthworks (clearing and grubbing), construction of carpark, roadworks and stormwater drainage. Work areas were planned around access for all other contractors. Design changes along the way due to stormwater catchment, levels were designed on the job with RMS and client's Project Manager. Works were staggered and ongoing over a period of approximately 12 months as construction of the structure progressed. |
Project Benwell Road and Hubert Streets Upgrade
Client Port of Townsville Value $700K AUD Date October 2013 - January 2014 Details The project involved road upgrade of Benwell Road and Hubert Street, both critical arterial roads within the Port of Townsville. Approximately 11,000m2 of road was excavated and replaced with road base. Seal and asphalt works were also undertaken and managed by RMS. Other works undertaken included road furniture and line marking, drainage repairs and haul road maintenance. |
Project Jetty Station Road and entrance upgrade works
Client Port of Townsville Limited Value $500K AUD Date March 2013 - June 2013 Details Included in the works but not limited to were earthworks, clearing and grubbing, excavation and removal of clean spoil and concrete spoil to approved sites. Subgrade preparation and pavement works including linemarking. Kern and channel, realignment and regrade of existing open and table drains. The entrance required surfacing works, clear and grub and removal of asphalt to approved location, spray and seal and linemarking. |
Project Jezzine Barracks redevelopment project
Client Townsville City Council Value $2.1 million AUD Date October 2012 - April 2013 Details The project included construction of the Jezzine Barracks redevelopment project is to provide an additional community precinct in the Townsville region, incorporating interpretive works capturing the military and indigenous history of the area. RMS completed the bulk earthworks, roadworks, carparks drainage and stormwater works. |
Project Carpentaria Gold environmental works
Client Carpentaria Gold Value $1.5 million AUD Date September 2012 – December 2012 Details The project was located at the Ravenswood Carpentaria Gold, Ravenswood Operations – North Queensland. The project included the environmental rehabilitation of Kakadu, Strand, Nolans Tailings Storage facility spillway and Sandy Creek ROW ponds. It included removal of contaminated materials, profile channel and geofabric lining of creek channel, build access to wet areas, lay poly pipe through sealed area of trench during construction, profile existing ground and rock backfill in seepage trench and replacement of geofabric layers. |
Project NDRRA repairs to Capellaris Road

Project Arnhem Highway minor pavement repairs

Project Picnic Bay sewerage works
Client Townsville City Council Value $800K AUD Date October 2009 - February 2010 Details Previously the sewerage needs of the picnic Bay community was serviced by individual septic tanks located on each landowners property. The sewer system contains over 2km of sewer mains and more than 60 cast insitu manholes. The key feature of the project was to eliminate the contamination of ground water from septic tanks therefore increasing the amount of recycled water made available for use throughout Picnic Bay. |

The project included clearing of 27.5km of drains, removal of 2,000m3 slip material, installation of 36m of steel culverts, 350m of masonry wall, construction of 1.3km of cement stabilised screen pavement, 5.8km of hot rolled asphalt and 50 individual construction sites. |
