Richard McDonald - GAICD

Managing Director​
Richard has over 45 years hands on civil engineering and construction operational experience through supervisory roles, project management and development. His total commitment to safety, quality, environmental protection and continuous improvement coupled with a thorough and broad knowledge of the civil construction industry has been gained by his direct involvement in multi-facet projects in Australia, East Timor and Vanuatu. Richard is a strong advocate for safely driving the development, implementation and ongoing operation of quality projects from conception to completion.

Erik Stokes

Chief Representative (East Timor)
Erik has over 25 years experience in the civil, mining and engineering industries including workshop management, heavy haulage, construction and bulk operations. Erik brings to RMS’s East Timor operation superior liaison and management skills demonstrated by the delivery of completed projects to the client’s satisfaction through his disciplined project management skills ensuring contracts are well recorded and remain transparent.

Richard Kirkland - BEng (Hons)(Civil)
Central Queensland Area Manager | Civil Engineer
Richard is a qualified Civil Engineer with over 14 years of experience delivering complex infrastructure projects across the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia. With a strong technical background and hands-on expertise in major roadworks, land development, defence infrastructure, and landfill rehabilitation, Richard brings practical insight to every stage of project delivery. He thrives in challenging environments and has progressed into project leadership roles, managing multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of high value works for both public and private sector clients. Richard’s career highlights include the Christchurch Southern Motorway (NZ), Clarke Creek Wind Farm (QLD), and Shoalwater Bay Training Area upgrades for the Australian Defence Force. Now based in Central Queensland, Richard is a key member of the RMS project delivery team, applying his structured, solutions-focused approach to ensure safety, quality, and performance outcomes are consistently achieved.

Helen Hobbs - BCom, MBA, CPA

Chief Financial Controller
Helen has over 25 years experience through a cross section of finance accounting roles in the public and private sectors. Helen draws her experience from employment within Australia and the United Kingdom. Helen specialises in project and cost accounting and is also focused on the company's continuing performance improvement in line with business strategy.  Helen holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Business Administration and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

 Jack McDonald - BEng (Civil)

Operations Manager | Civil Engineer
Jack has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and has been directly involved in the Civil Construction industry for nearly 15 years with first-hand experience in Victoria, Queensland and the Pacific Region. As the Contractors Representative for the construction of Cyclone Pam disaster relief project, Jack successfully delivered over 10 kilometres of roadwork consisting of pavement repair, and the laying of asphalt over the entire length, 15km of footpath, 15km of kerb and channel and 8 kilometres of new stormwater drainage, to Australian DTMR standards, through the centre of Port Vila, Vanuatu. Working closely with the Vanuatu Government, local authorities, design teams and managing over 60 direct employees, this challenging project was completed on time and was rewarding, valuable experience for all involved. Now based in Townsville Jack is extensively involved in numerous facets throughout the business including tendering, business development and focusing on project delivery.

​Business Development Manager
With a strong background in sport and event management, Adam brings a fresh and dynamic perspective to the civil construction industry. Before joining the family business, he held key event and venue management roles with two of Queensland’s most successful sporting clubs, The Brisbane Lions and Brisbane Heat – where he honed his skills in stakeholder engagement, operations, and strategic planning.

Since stepping into the role of Business Development Manager at RMS, Adam has successfully leveraged this experience to build strong client relationships, identify new opportunities, and drive business growth. His enthusiasm, attention to detail, and results-driven mindset have helped position the company for continued success in a competitive market.

John Marodi
HSEQ Manager
John is an experienced HSEQ Manager with a strong background in civil, mining, and infrastructure projects across Australia. With over 40 years in safety leadership roles—including senior positions at Downer, Adani, and John Holland—he brings deep expertise in risk management, compliance, auditing, and workforce training.

At RMS, John oversees the Integrated Management System and ensures our safety, quality, and environmental standards are upheld across all sites. Known for his practical approach and commitment to continuous improvement, he plays a key role in maintaining a strong safety culture and client confidence on every project.

Hysen Stoneham - BEng (Hons), TMD-OP924

Senior Project Manager | Civil Engineer
Hysen holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with First Class Honours and TMR Traffic Management Design Certification. Since graduating, he has developed into a diligent and forward-thinking Project Manager with strong technical and planning capabilities.

Hysen began his career on Bruce Highway safety upgrades, where he was responsible for preparing traffic guidance schemes and quality documentation. He has since built extensive experience delivering road infrastructure projects, with a strong working knowledge of DTMR standards and specifications. Known for his clear communication and attention to detail, Hysen plays a key role in liaising with clients, interpreting technical drawings, and providing construction direction to site supervisors. He is also actively involved in programming, forward planning, and project reporting to ensure smooth delivery across all stages of construction.

Fausto Fontana - BEng (Civil)
Project Manager | Civil Engineer
​Fausto is a qualified civil engineer with over 15 years of international experience in project delivery, site management, and quarry operations. Holding an MBA in Business Management and an engineering degree from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), he brings strong technical and commercial acumen to every project.

​Before joining RMS, Fausto held senior engineering roles with Pacific Marine Group, where he contributed to marine infrastructure and piling projects across North Queensland and the Northern Territory. His earlier career includes operational leadership of quarry sites, managing safety, production, and maintenance across high-output crushing facilities. Fausto’s strengths include quality assurance, site supervision, risk management, and the ability to deliver projects in complex and remote environments—making him a valuable asset to the RMS project delivery team.

Nathan Elrick - TMD-OP73

Traffic Manager
Nathan is an experienced Traffic Manager with a strong background in traffic planning, road safety, and onsite compliance for major infrastructure projects across North Queensland. He holds TMR Traffic Management Design Certification (OP73) and has extensive knowledge of MUTCD requirements and DTMR standards. At RMS, Nathan is responsible for preparing and implementing Traffic Management Plans and Guidance Schemes across all projects. His work ensures safe, efficient traffic control and compliance at every stage of construction. Nathan is known for his analytical approach, strong communication skills, and ability to identify and resolve risks on high-profile road projects, including Bruce Highway safety upgrades and the Mission Beach Revitalisation.

Robert Barker

Construction Manager
Robert is a highly experienced Works Superintendent with over 12 years in senior site leadership roles across major road, civil, and building projects valued up to $170 million. He holds multiple trade and civil construction qualifications, including Civil Construction Supervision (Cert IV) and Bridge Construction and Maintenance (Cert III).
​
Since joining RMS in 2018, Robert has led the delivery of numerous large-scale DTMR projects across North and Central Queensland, including Bruce Highway upgrades, intersection improvements, and bridge and culvert works. He is known for his deep understanding of TMR specifications, strong communication with site teams and stakeholders, and proactive leadership in quality, safety, and compliance.
Robert plays a key role in maintaining construction standards, mentoring site crews, and ensuring RMS projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
